A quick list for TRS members of information relating to your retirement benefits and issues affecting the Retirement Systems of Alabama. 

 TRS Board of Control Election Information 
  • The TRS Board of Control election will begin Monday, October 15. Ballots will be due to Election-America by 4:00 p.m. on November 21. All voting information, including sample ballots, along with candidate biographies and statements, will be available soon on the RSA website.
  • There are three ways to vote: online, by mail, or by telephone. 
    • Please note: You will receive an email ballot if your preferred method of communication from the RSA is email.
  • Elected members will begin their three-year term of service on July 1, 2019. 

If you missed the September Advisor, you missed two extremely important articles regarding pension liability. 

  • The first, Why Your Pension is Doomed, is from The Wall Street Journal, which gives examples of five states pension problems. 
  • The second article, I say- Only If, by Dr. David Bronner, explains the importance of the upcoming state elections. His message, “Get informed before you vote. Ask every politician on your ballot where they stand regarding your pension program.” 

How to Stay Informed 

Stay informed by joining RSA 2018, a public Facebook group started by RSA members, which allows all members to share information on the candidates running for the 2018 elections. This page has over 8,000 members. 

Join the Save Our RSA Retirement Facebook page, to stay up-to-date on the latest news regarding retirement security in Alabama. This page has over 70,000 members.
