Sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, the Office for Proposal Development is hosting a Proposal and Grant Writing Training event on Wednesday, September 26th, Thursday, September 27th, and Friday, September 28th. These seminars will feature grant-writing and proposal-development strategies for NSF, NSF CAREER, NIH, U.S. Department of Education, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Locations for each day are as follows. Note the location change for Wednesday to the Chan Auditorium in the Business building:

  • Wednesday, September 26th, all sessions – BAB 125 Chan Auditorium
  • Thursday, September 27th, all sessions – SSB 313 Conference Room
  • Friday, September 28th, all sessions – SSB 313 Conference Room

These workshops will be presented by Dr. Robert Porter who has over 30 years’ experience as a tenured professor, private consultant, and research administrator.  His proposals have won more than $8 million in awards from government agencies and private foundations.  Dr. Porter, formerly Director of Research Development at the University of Tennessee, has also taught at Virginia Tech, Swarthmore College, Susquehanna University and Eastern Washington University.  He holds a graduate degree in Speech and Communications from the University of Michigan.  A national leader in the growing field of research development, he has presented papers and workshops on grant-writing at national and international conferences and has published prize-winning articles in the Journal of Research Administration and Research Management Review.
