April 16, 2018 I am pleased to announce the appointment of Laterrica Simmons, currently Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, as Interim Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As Interim Vice President, Laterrica serves as the senior executive responsible for providing a campus-wide vision for all major diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in support of the University’s Strategic Plan, advising the University community on matters of diversity, equity and inclusion, and interacting with external communities on such matters. Laterrica joined us as Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator about a year ago coming to us from the Missouri University of Science and Technology where she served as Senior Compliance Manager conducting Title IX and equity investigations. She received her BS in Operations Management from The University of Alabama and her JD from The University of Alabama School of Law. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar and holds a Level I Civil Rights Investigator Certification from the Association of Title IX Administrators.
