Dr. William (Bill) Wilkerson, Dean of the Honors College and Professor of Philosophy, will retire this summer after serving The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) passionately and selflessly for 26 years. Dr. Wilkerson’s accomplishments are numerous, both within his teaching and research discipline of philosophy as well as in his leadership for eight years as founding Dean of the Honors College. We are grateful for his many contributions, including guiding the college into a premier program, and wish him the best for a long and enjoyable retirement.
As Dr. Wilkerson prepares his next chapter in life, it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Sean Lane as Interim Dean of the Honors College at UAH effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Lane will serve until a permanent dean is hired from the search that is currently underway.
Dr. Lane has been at UAH for five years and is currently the Dean of College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences. He brings a wealth of leadership and administrative experience to the interim role. I have full confidence that he will serve in the best interests of the Honors College students, faculty, and staff during the transition. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Lane to this new role.
