User Experience Program (UX)
The User Experience (UX) Program at The University of Alabama in Huntsville is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students for careers as UX researchers and designers. The program is housed within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHS), but involves courses from several departments throughout the university.
User experience refers to a user’s engagement with a product, technology, or service. According to usability.gov, “User experience (UX) focuses on having a deep understanding of users, what they need, what they value, their abilities, and also their limitations.” For a product to develop a positive user experience, it must meet actual users’ needs, help users fulfill their goals, provide a usable interface, and evoke positive emotions. In the past two decades, UX has become increasingly central to the success of businesses and organizations.
