His M.A. thesis, which he defended in 2016, examines the connections and disconnections between Isaac Newton's religious and natural philosophical writings. Along with his primary work as an Academic Advisor for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at UAH, Joshua teaches, part-time, both introductory pre-modern and modern world history courses. His historical interests lie in intellectual history / history of ideas, Medieval and Early Modern Europe, and religious history, especially the history of the Church. Influenced by a previous UAH history professor, he believes a significant part of a college education is cultivating otium cum dignitate - "leisure with dignity." When he isn't advising or teaching, Joshua enjoys spending time with his wife and son, reading, and listening to Bruce Springsteen. All the while, he's drinking too much coffee.
