Dr. Piyawan Charoensap-Kelly

Lecturer, Communication Arts Department


Piyawan Charoensap-Kelly is a Lecturer in the Communication Arts Department at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and recently completed her PHD in Communication Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her dissertation explored the interplay of supervisors’ conflict negotiation messages and gender on employees’ emotion, compliance behavior, and perceptions of managers’ credibility. Dr. Charoensap-Kelly received the 2016 National Communication Association’s Training and Development Rising Star award and is a Co-Chair of the division.

Before returning to academia, she had a ten-year professional experience in diverse areas including administration, sales, translation, management, training, and consulting. Her research interests include conflict management, organizational communication, identity management, intercultural communication, training and development, and humor. Her recent work can be found in the Business and Professional Communication Quarterly and the Journal of Education Advancement and Marketing.
