The College of Science is pleased to announce the top undergraduate scholar for Spring 2022 is Brianna Stanley. Brianna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry.

As a senior in high school, I applied to 3 colleges. I knew I didn't want to be far away from home, so I applied to 3 in Alabama. I toured UNA, UA, and UAH with my family. UAH was the last college I toured, and I instantly felt at home. I knew the moment I toured the campus that this was where I wanted to be.

Brianna is an outstanding student, as evidenced by her inclusion on the President's List three times, and on the Dean's List all semesters attended at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Brianna also served as a Science Ambassador from 2020-2022 and was a Lead on the Media & Communiations group.

Brianna is also a Pre-Health Professions student and is applying to optometry school this year. She has participated in research with Auburn University and is a part of the Medical Careers Club. Brianna plans to work as an optometrist technician during her gap year to gain more experience in the field.

I truly felt as though my teachers at UAH wanted me to succeed. They were readily available when I asked for help.

Brianna shares this advice with fellow students: "Teachers at UAH do not have many memorization exams. Most of the tests I have taken were application tests. I needed to learn the knowledge and be able to apply it during the exam. I have learned the value of listening to my professors. Many times they will tell you what to study. I also know that it is imperative to attend office hours. Office hours have helped me tremendously."
