The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will host the Fourth Annual Health Careers Day (HCD 15) on Friday, Sept. 18.

HCD15 activities begin at 9:15 a.m., in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology on the UAH campus. The keynote speaker for this year's event is Dr. James C. Gilbert, a pediatric surgeon at Tennessee Valley Pediatric Surgery. Gilbert earned his medical degree from Harvard University.

More than 200 attendees, and 25 representatives participated in last year's event. HCD15 features an exhibit fair, with health professional schools, educational sessions, and UAH and Nursing Building tours.

The event is open to the UAH community, and the North Alabama area including high school and college pre-health students in all health fields (medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physician's assistant, veterinary medicine, optometry, public health, nursing, and more). The event is free to attend, but all attendees must register. A complete schedule of events and online registration form can be found at www.uah.edu/hcd/students.

At HCD15, students can attend an exhibit fair and meet directly with various health professionals and school representatives from around the region and participate in educational sessions throughout the day. Available sessions for students include: Surviving Professional School, Exploring Undergraduate Research, and a Human Cadaver Live Feed/Demonstration. HCD15 attendees have the ability to choose from eight different session topics, including the keynote address.

Sponsors and coordinators for HCD15 include UAH's Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and the Medical Careers Club.
