Purpose
The purpose of this manual is to provide rules and guidelines for final recycling, treatment, or disposal of universal hazardous waste. Universal waste includes items such as: batteries, mercury-containing devices, certain pesticides and lamps. Although electronics and ballasts are not considered a universal waste they, are managed the same.

Review
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) is responsible for the review of this policy every five years (or whenever circumstances require).
