The College of Nursing at The University of Alabama in Huntsville is proud to welcome its new Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, a respected nurse educator and leader with a clear vision for the future of advanced nursing education. With a career dedicated to mentoring nurse leaders and advancing academic excellence, Dr. Yeow Chye Ng brings to UAH a deep commitment to student success, faculty collaboration, and community-engaged scholarship. His decision to step into this leadership role was inspired by UAH’s reputation for innovation and its mission to shape healthcare through evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service. "UAH provides the ideal platform to help shape the next generation of advanced practice nurses and nurse scholars," he said. “Throughout my career, I’ve seen the transformational impact that high-quality graduate education can have on healthcare systems and patient outcomes.” As Associate Dean, Dr, Ng plans to prioritize transparency, equity, and open communication - key elements in fostering a strong academic community. He is focused on setting clear expectations, providing timely feedback, and ensuring that students and faculty alike feel supported and valued. Recognizing that lasting progress is only possible through collaboration, he emphasizes the importance of shared leadership and mutual respect. Looking forward, he is particularly enthusiastic about preparing students for a wide range of leadership roles, whether as providers, educators, researchers, or executives. His vision includes expanded opportunities for community-based learning, interdisciplinary research, and projects that tackle real-world healthcare challenges. His own journey into higher education continues to shape his approach. As a first-generation college student, Dr. Ng understands the significance of access and opportunity and he brings that perspective to every student interaction. His personal mission is to create inclusive, empowering learning environments where all students can thrive, explore their passions, and lead with confidence.
