Alabama State Representative Howard Sanderford presents Dr. Marsha Adams with a resolution citing her dedication and exceptional abilities related to the nursing profession and nursing education.
The University of Alabama in Huntsville's (UAH) Dr. Marsha Howell Adams, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, FAAN, dean of the College of Nursing recently became a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Adams was inducted, along with 167 nurse leaders from across the United States and abroad.
She was honored on Thursday, Jan. 8, by the UAH College of Nursing with a reception at the Ledges Country Club. Alabama State Representative Howard Sanderford (R-District 20 Madison) presented Adams with a resolution citing her dedication and exceptional abilities related to the nursing profession and nursing education.
"It is a great honor for me to be inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and to be recognized for my sustained contribution of raising standards of excellence in nursing education and transforming educational practices," said Dr. Marsha H. Adams, dean of the UAH College of Nursing.
The American Academy of Nursing is made up of more than 2,200 nurse leaders in education, management, practice, policy, and research. Academy fellows include hospital and government administrators, college deans, and renowned scientific researchers.
Adams earned her undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. She also earned a post-doctoral certificate in rural case management from The University of Alabama (UA) Capstone College of Nursing. Adams is president of the National League for Nursing and is recognized as an Academy of Nursing Education Fellow. Additionally, she is a Fellow in the University of Alabama and Southeastern Leadership Conference.
Before accepting the position as dean of the UAH College of Nursing last July, Adams served as senior associate dean of academic programs at UA.
