FAA Official Will Discuss Challenges Transforming U.S. Air Transportation

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The University of Alabama in Huntsville’s Center for System Studies will host a conversation this week with Dr. Wilson Felder, director of the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 19, at 4 p.m. in room 150 of the Shelby Center for Science and Technology. The event is free and open to the public.

The William J. Hughes Technical Center and Dr. Felder are at the forefront of FAA’s challenge to transform the U.S. air transportation system. The Technical Center is one of the nation’s premier aviation and research, development, test, and evaluation facilities.

It serves as the FAA's national scientific test base for research and development, testing and evaluation, and verification and validation in air traffic control, communications, navigation, airports, aircraft safety, and security. It is the primary facility supporting the nation's Next Generation Air Transportation System, called NextGen.
