Work for Housing and Residence Life

Our department is the largest employer of student staff at UAH. We have the following positions:

Desk Assistants monitor guests and safety at our lobbies and front desks in the community. All residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.

Mail Assistants handle packages and letter mail in the mailroom for all on-campus residents. All undergraduate residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.

Resident Assistants support residents as they navigate the on-campus experience. This includes programming, campus referrals, health & safety checks, and assisting in the move-in and move-out of residents. Students can apply to be resident assistants after living on campus for one year.

Student Housing Assistant collaborates on marketing material for the department, takes photos of programs put on in the residence halls, handles student lockouts during the weekday, and work at the main housing front desk when needed. All undergraduate residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.

National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)

NRHH is a department-sponsored student organization comprised of exemplary residential students who value recognition and service. NRHH is dedicated to acknowledge residents in our residence halls who have shown exceptional leadership and service toward the improvement of Housing and Residence Life and the surrounding community. NRHH also provides residents with the opportunity to attend state, regional, and national leadership conferences where students can connect and learn from their peers at other institutions. These conferences allow UAH students to grow as leaders and bring back exciting new ideas to campus.

All residents in good academic standing and that have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher are welcome to join and participate in NRHH. NRHH raises funds for their efforts via the care packages and linens sold via OCM.
