Work for Housing and Residence Life
Our department is the largest employer of student staff at UAH. We have the following positions:
Desk Assistants monitor guests and safety at our lobbies and front desks in the community. All residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.
Mail Assistants handle packages and letter mail in the mailroom for all on-campus residents. All undergraduate residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.
Resident Assistants support residents as they navigate the on-campus experience. This includes programming, campus referrals, health and safety checks, and assisting in residents' move-in and move-out. Students can apply to be resident assistants after living on campus for one year.
Student Marketing Assistant collaborates on marketing material for the department, takes photos of programs put on in the residence halls and by the department, and work at the main housing front desk when needed. All undergraduate residents are eligible to apply for this position when posted.
The Resident Assistant Application is now open for the 2027-2028 academic year. If you are interested in applying, you will need to complete the 27-28 Resident Application by Friday, October 16, 2026 at 11:59pm CDT.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
RHA is a department-sponsored student organization focused on creating an engaging and connected residential experience for students at UAH. RHA works to bring social and educational programs to residents, address resident concerns through programming and advocacy, and provide opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills. RHA also serves as a liaison between UAH residents and the Department of Housing and Residence Life (DHRL), Student Life, and other campus departments and communities to help ensure that resident voices are heard.
All UAH residents are welcome to participate in RHA and help shape the residential experience on campus.
