UAH Honors College established

At its September 13 meeting, the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama approved the establishment of the Honors College. This re-naming of the former University Honors Program is effective immediately.

In announcing the name change, President Altenkirch said, "The College designation will provide more visibility for our honors programming, enhance recruiting, and assist in raising the academic profile of first-time-full-time freshmen in support of the Strategic Plan.  A Dean of the Honors College, whom we will recruit this academic year, will have a seat at the Council of Deans." In the meantime, Dr. Harry Delugach will continue to serve as Director of the Honors College.
