Bryce A. Morgan has been named Director of Environmental Health and Safety in the Department of Facilities and Operations at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). He began his duties in July.

The UAH Office of Environmental Health and Safety works to promote healthy and safe operations on campus, to protect students, faculty, staff and visitors and to ensure protection of the environment. His specific duties include keeping UAH in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations related to campus safety. Additionally, in partnership with other campus departments and administrators, Morgan will provide comprehensive training and instruction including planning, administering and implementing, and monitoring emergency disaster preparedness plans and policies.

Morgan was previously employed as a Lead Chemist at Clean Harbors, Inc., located in Lenexa, KS. The international environmental firm provides energy and industrial services, that includes hazardous waste removal for companies, including the 500 largest companies in the United States, small waste generators and federal, state, regional and local governments. Additionally, Morgan was a graduate researcher and teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Alabama (UA). His graduate work with Dr. Stephen A. Woski included research synthesizing various biphenyl compounds and nucleic acid derivatives. Woski is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at UA.

Morgan holds several industry certifications, and has completed training in environmental services programs such as HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard Program protects workers at hazardous sites); DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation); RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act); OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration); EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency); and DEACT (Deactivate Specified Technology Treatment Standard).

In addition, Morgan is a member of the American Chemical Society.

Morgan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, and a Master's of Science degree in Organic Chemistry, from UA.
