Learn the fascinating story of Charles Leonard, a World War One ambulance driver. In 1917, Leonard wanted to join the war effort, but his eyesight would prevent him from serving in the regular armed services. He joined the American Field Service, a volunteer organization that assisted the French armed forces in transporting the injured from war-torn areas to field hospitals. He captured his experiences through the lens of his 1A Kodak camera. From his 1,000 photos, letters home, and diary, Charles captured a side of the war few saw or read about.
