The 20th-century American South is known for its colorful politicians. This course will discuss four of the most fascinating and charismatic populist governors including Texas’s Miriam “Ma” Ferguson, Louisiana’s Huey “Kingfish” Long and “Uncle Earl” Long as well as Alabama’s “Big Jim” Folsom.
