Mathematical Sciences Colloquium with Dr. Marius Nkashama Conference/Lecture Friday, April 5, 2019 The event started -1895 days agoMultiday event - 0 days 3:00 PM 4:00 PM Shelby Center Room 219 Speaker: Dr. Marius Nikashama Bifurcation from infinity and multiplicity for some nonlinear problems Some recent results on bifurcation from infinity and multiplicity of solutions to weighted nonlinear partial differential equations with weighted nonlinear boundary conditions will be presented. Bending and oscillatory behavior of bifurcation branches will be discussed. The approach is based on setting up the problem in appropriate function spaces, and using topological degree arguments, continuation methods and recent results in geometric analysis. I will give some indication on how these problems come about, and introduce the notion of bifurcation from infinity. The talk should be accessible to students.
