For security and legal purposes, all external tools integrated with UAH academic technologies or installed on classroom machines must be approved. This includes software, apps, extensions, add-ons, and other third-party tools that are not already licensed through the university. To ensure student privacy is protected and security is maintained, any external tool must minimally meet an acceptable standard outlined in the evaluation rubric. Faculty must submit any tool they want to use in conjunction with ETLC supported technologies for review following the instructions below.

The following is the procedure that will be followed:

  1. Requestors (faculty members, staff, etc) must fill out the UAH External Tool Request Form.
  2. The requestor will receive an email with instructions for acquisition of the needed vendor information (HECVAT, OIT Software Questionnaire).
  3. The vendor information will be reviewed by the ETLC, OIT, Academic Affairs, and Legal Counsel. The timeline of this process varies on how quickly the vendor and the various UAH departments are able to provide the necessary materials and complete the review.
  4. If approved, the tool will be tested and integrated. If the tool is not approved, the requestor will be notified with an explanation and will have the opportunity to resubmit.
