Written by: Larry D Frost October 23, 2013 The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the College of Engineering is very pleased to announce that MAE Professors Gang Wang and Ken Zuo have been elected Associate Fellows of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). To be selected for the grade of Associate Fellow, an individual must be an AIAA Senior Member with at least twelve years professional experience and be recommended by a minimum of three current Associate Fellows. Each year, the Institute recognizes exemplary professionals for their accomplishments in engineering or scientific work, outstanding merit, and contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics. Assistant Professor Gang Wang Gang’s expertise is in modeling of novel structures with applications to aerospace vehicle design, geotechnical engineering, and power generation systems. His expertise includes various aspects of structural dynamics, solid mechanics, and adaptive structures. He received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 2001 from the University of Maryland. He joined UAH in 2010. Associate Professor Ken Zuo's expertise includes applied mechanics and materials science. He develops theoretical and computational modeling tools to examine the dynamic response of ductile and brittle materials subject to rapid changes in strain. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and has been at UAH since 2006. Congratulations to Gang and Ken!
