This program is designed for those interested in the administrative aspect of sport and fitness. The purpose of the Sport and Fitness Management degree is to prepare students for both graduate studies and entry into management, marketing, and administrative positions in educational and sport business settings.

Upon completion of the degree, candidates shall demonstrate the ability to:

  • (a) demonstrate a strong knowledge base in core areas such as management, leadership, marketing, facilities and equipment, and sport law
  • (b) demonstrate professional skills and dispositions necessary for successful performance in the field
  • (c) demonstrate professionalism and leadership skills to serve the professional and academic field of sport and fitness administration

Summary of courses required for the Sport and Fitness Management major

Sport and Fitness Management graduates will also earn a minor in Business Administration.

In addition to their coursework, students will complete a 6-credit hour internship in a Sport and Fitness Management setting. This could include a collegiate athletic department, professional sport organization, or local recreational/fitness facility.
