The six-year effort of Jag SAT one was led by Dr. Edmund Spenser, University of South Alabama CPU2AL Lead Partner Institutions and Contacts. CPU2AL partially supported the project, in which almost 50 South Alabama faculty members and students collaborated with the designing and building process of the satellite.

The Space X rocket took off on July 14, 2022, to carry the small yet well-developed device to the orbiting space station. JagSat will measure fluctuations in the plasma layers of the ionosphere, in the part of Earth’s atmosphere.
