If you are sick, stay home.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have COVID-19, stay home and self-isolate for 10 days (or per ADPH/UAH Clinic instructions).

If you are unvaccinated and have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or is under investigation for COVID-19, stay home, report the exposure to UAH, and quarantine for 14 days after last exposure. Fully vaccinated individuals who are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms but have been exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to report exposure or quarantine in accordance with public health guidance.

Report exposure and positive test results to Dean of Students (256.824.6700 or or Human Resources ( or 256.824.6545) for guidance on returning to campus. For individual medical questions contact the UAH Student Health Center ( or 256.824.6775) or Faculty and Staff Clinic ( or 256.824.2100).

Face Coverings

Consistent with CDC guidance and the UA System Health and Safety Plan, UAH has modified on-campus face covering guidelines for non-clinical settings.

  • Fully vaccinated individuals (14 days or more following the final dose) are no longer required to wear face coverings indoors or outside.
  • Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear face coverings at all times indoors except when face coverings are not required by existing guidance. (e.g., established rules for residence halls, or when individuals are alone in a private workspace).

Social Distancing

UAH requires a 3-foot distance between individuals not from the same household wherever possible.


Visitors who are not fully vaccinated must wear a face covering while inside University buildings and must comply with all other UAH COVID-19 health and safety protocols.


University-sponsored travel is restricted for employees and must be approved.
