covid testing kits

UAH is providing free, on-site rapid COVID-19 testing for faculty, staff and students. The tests are performed by employees from the Student Health Center and Faculty and Staff Clinic at the testing location in Executive Plaza. Testing will not be performed at the Student Health Center or the Faculty and Staff Clinic.

All tests are performed by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted.  Other infection testing (strep, flu, etc.) is available as well; fees may apply.

What to bring

  • A mask to wear in your vehicle during contact with employees
  • Your driver’s license or other valid ID
  • Your insurance card (in case further testing is needed)

What to expect

Upon arrival, drive under the carport awning outside the building. Clinic staff will meet you at your vehicle to collect some information and assess COVID-19 symptoms. A nasal swab will be performed and then you will be asked to park in a reserved stall until your results are ready. Results are typically available in 20 minutes.

If you already had COVID-19

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 12 weeks and have been exposed, you may not need to re-test after exposure. Provide a copy of your positive test result and medical clearance from a health care provider. If you are experiencing upper respiratory symptoms you may need to be tested for influenza (FLU) or other illnesses.

  • Faculty and staff should send results to the Faculty and Staff Clinic at or upload them to the online Health Portal.
  • Students should send results to the Student Health Center at or upload them to the online Health Portal.
  • If you have additional questions, please email the Student Health Center at or the Faculty and Staff Clinic at

For-cause Testing

For-cause testing (cluster testing) will be conducted by UAH when, as determined by campus healthcare professionals, there are three or more COVID-positive tests documented in a geographic area in a seven-day rolling period. Geographic areas are defined as within a specific location (i.e., dorm floor, sorority/fraternity house) or a discrete group or department (i.e., in a classroom, on a team, in a student organization, from a particular event or gathering, etc.).

Campus healthcare professionals will also order for-cause testing in an area when there is increased reporting to the Student Health Center or the Faculty and Staff Clinic of COVID-19 related symptoms or exposures. Those who refuse to participate in required for-cause testing will be referred to student conduct.

Athletics Testing

UAH testing protocols for Athletics comply with all NCAA, conference and host site requirements.
