Actively engaging with employers through networking events like Career Fairs is one of the best ways to get hired for an internship/co-op or a full-time job. Due to COVID-19, the recruiting landscape has changed from in-person to virtual, but the goal of connecting remains the same.

UAH will be hosting our Fall 2020 Career Fair Virtually on Tuesday, September 29 from 10 am to 4 pm through Charger Path, powered by Handshake. Current UAH students and alumni will be able to connect with employers through video and chat throughout the fair.  Virtual sessions also mean that there will be no waiting in line to speak with company representatives--instead you’ll schedule 1-1 sessions in advance and RSVP for group sessions, securing your spot to meet with the employers that interest you.

There are two types of virtual fair sessions at the Fall 2020 fair:

Group sessions are like information sessions. During these blocks you’ll join other students to meet recruiters and other employees at the organization. You’ll learn about job and internship opportunities, company culture, and more. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask your own questions.

One-on-one sessions are your chance to network directly with recruiters and employer representatives. This is an opportunity to chat directly about jobs and internships. Recruiters that want to meet you will be able to invite you to attend virtual sessions with them. You can sign up for the sessions you’re qualified for in advance, and employers are adding new sessions daily.  Rather than waiting in line, you’ll log on at your scheduled time to speak with a recruiter via video or chat.

Recruiters will likely review your profile before a group or 1-1 session, so be sure to update your Charger Path profile with your role and location preferences, as well as skills, organizations, and work experience! Check out our blog post about your profile for inspiration.

Handshake also has a helpful blog post that will walk you through the process of signing up for the Fair and setting yourself up for success.
