Aneisa Hill is driven to create better working environments for all
Inspired by her mother’s resilience, Aneisa Hill is on a mission to create safer and more supportive work environments for everyone. She is a sophomore in business management with a concentration in human resources and a finance minor at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).
Hill was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, but has spent the majority of her life living in Montgomery, Alabama. Alongside her three siblings, she was raised in a single-parent household by her mother.
“I’ve seen how hard my mother worked growing up to provide for my siblings and me, and I draw so much inspiration from her,” says Hill. “My work ethic was shaped by her, and it encouraged me to put my all into everything I do.”
Throughout high school, Hill strove for academic excellence. At 16 years old, she became the youngest legal professional accredited by the National Association of Legal Support Professionals (NALS) after passing a challenging examination. She graduated with a 4.3 GPA and was the salutatorian of her graduating class. She was also able to obtain and successfully complete two internships within the legal field: one with NALS and the other with the Judge Frank M. Johnson Institute.
Initially interested in pursuing a career in law, Hill discovered through her internships her love for collaborating with others and an interest in business operations. At UAH, she shifted her focus to business management, concentrating on human resources. Hill now works as a human resources intern for Sodexo, the food service company responsible for UAH’s campus dining facilities.
Since August 2024, Hill has been an intern with Sodexo and has enjoyed the experience.
“I didn’t realize the extent that human resources operate as the backbone of companies until I started working there,” she says. “In the past, I’ve had uncomfortable work experiences and didn’t have an accessible human resource department to turn to. I never want anyone else to experience that, and I want to be able to create a better, safer environment where people can turn to have their issues properly addressed.”
Working as a Sodexo intern has solidified Hill’s future career goals, particularly her desire to advocate for a safe and supportive work environment. As a finance minor, she also aims to teach financial literacy to underprivileged communities.
“I want to be able to make a positive impact on my community by teaching others.”
In the fall semester, Hill will be a resident assistant at UAH, where she will help college students navigate on-campus housing. Outside of school, she also volunteers at local food banks, creating food boxes for the elderly.
“I am able to do everything that I do because of the support I receive from my mother and my siblings. I love my family very much and am so grateful for them.”
Hill is looking forward to the future and plans to pursue a master of business administration after completing her bachelor’s degree. She encourages others to forge their own path: “Through determination and hard work, you can create the life that you want and be the change that you want to see.
