Written by: Drew Hartt Yarbrough November 25, 2024 UAH business students celebrate their donation drive success by "pie-ing" faculty members at their annual Thanksgiving event. College of Business (COB) students from The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) collected more than 400 items to donate to Huntsville’s homeless community. UAH is a part of The University of Alabama System. The items collected were donated to the Downtown Rescue Mission, a local nonprofit that provides a place of refuge for the homeless and offers different programs to support the homeless community. The donations were a result of the college clubs hosting a donation drive competition. The club with the most donations won a chance to “pie” the dean of the college and various members of the college faculty at their annual Thanksgiving celebration event. “We are so proud of our students and their commitment to help others,” said Dr. Jason T. Greene, dean of the UAH COB. “When our club leaders learned of a need in the community, they saw an opportunity to work together – not just as students and clubs, but as members of this community. And, reflecting the true UAH Charger spirit, they found a way to energize others by making it fun, which helped make a positive impact on a great nonprofit in our community.” The UAH College of Business has nine student clubs and organizations that allow students to expand their professional networks, apply the skills they learn in the classroom to the real-world, make friends among their peers and give back to the community.
