Dr. Atiya Avery

Biography

Dr. Atiya Avery is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Avery is a former National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow with the ESP (Electronic Security and Privacy) - IGERT group at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Avery’s research has been presented at regional, national, and international academic conferences. Dr. Avery is an inaugural member of the national chapter of Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), and KPMG’s Ph.D. Project Information Systems and Decision Sciences Doctoral Student Association (ISDSA). Dr. Avery earned her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Science in Managerial Sciences from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University in Risk Management and Insurance. Dr. Avery also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Institutes and the Security+ designation from CompTIA.
