Graduate assistantships (GA) provide financial assistance to graduate students as they pursue a degree.

Both part-time GA positions (10 hours/week) and full-time GA positions (20 hours/week) are available in the College of Business.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • At the time of admission, a student must be admitted unconditionally to a UAH graduate program, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must maintain the minimum GPA requirement during their appointment
  • Graduate assistants must be registered for at least 9 semester hours of graduate credit courses in the Spring and Fall (6 hours in the Summer) in which they hold an appointment. Only graduate courses used toward degree completion fulfill this requirement.
  • Full-time GA’s cannot have any other employment while employed as a full-time GA. Part-time GA’s can hold part-time employment elsewhere.

Benefits

  • Part-time GA's receive 4.5 hours of tuition paid (based on the in-state graduate tuition rates), a stipend paid to the student on a bi-weekly basis through the duration of the student’s assignment, and a partial college fee scholarship. The remaining hours will qualify for in-state tuition.
  • Full-time GA's receive up to 12 hours of tuition paid (based on the in-state graduate tuition rates), a stipend paid to the student on a bi-weekly basis through the duration of the student’s assignment, and a full college fee scholarship.
  • GA’s have the option to accept or decline the UAH Student Health Insurance. All international students are automatically enrolled in this insurance plan at registration.
  • GA’s will gain professional experience while working on their graduate degree.

Graduate assistantship positions are limited and highly competitive. If you are being considered for a GA position, you will be contacted directly by the College of Business.
