Dear UAH campus community,

Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley may experience winter weather conditions beginning Jan. 23, 2026.

Facilities & Operations (F&O) will actively monitor snow and ice conditions across campus throughout the winter weather event. Crews will be on campus reviewing and treating outdoor areas to support safe movement through designated priority locations.

The primary objective during inclement weather is to support safe movement for students, faculty, and staff who remain on campus. Efforts will focus on reducing slip-and-fall risks by addressing critical areas such as building entrances, sidewalks, ramps, steps, and service areas. The following locations have been identified as priority areas for snow and ice removal:

Student Housing Facilities

  • Entrances and exterior steps
  • Sidewalks immediately adjacent to housing to support emergency egress

Sidewalks leading to the Conference Training Center (CTC)

  • A designated safe path of travel from student housing facilities to food service venues in the Conference Training Center (CTC)

Conference Training Center (CTC)

  • Exterior ramps and sidewalks treated in support of food service venues
  • Back-of-house areas near the loading dock and dumpsters including sidewalks, ramps and parking area

Intermodal Parking Facility (IMF)

  • Front sidewalk and access road
  • Third-floor ramp monitored and treated as needed; please note, the third floor may be closed if conditions are deemed unsafe

National Weather Service – Cramer Hall (CRH)

  • Rear exterior entry stair monitored and treated as needed

Technology Hall (OKT)

  • Northside entry steps and landing

Morton Hall (MOR)

  • Northside entrance and sidewalk leading to the parking lot

Shelby Center Courtyard (SST)

  • Path of travel to the back door cleared
  • Area may be closed if conditions become unsafe

Members of the campus community are encouraged to use extreme caution when walking or driving, wear appropriate footwear, and allow extra time when traveling between buildings.

Power outages may occur during this weather event. In the event of an outage, F&O may be unable to maintain full power to research labs, housing or other campus facilities. Building heating systems may also be temporarily unavailable until power is restored.

On-Campus Dining: Hours of operation for on-campus dining facilities can be found on the UAH Dining Services webpage as well as Facebook and Instagram.
