The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will hold Alumni Weekend 2023 Sept. 21-24. These four days of celebrations, games, food and fellowship are sponsored by the Alumni Association at UAH, a part of the University of Alabama System.
The festivities begin with the Alumni of Achievement Awards Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 21, on campus. The reception is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards ceremony at 6. Honorees from each academic college and one Outstanding Young Alumnus will be recognized for their professional and personal successes. Registration is required, and seating is limited.
The UAH Alumni Association and Department of Athletics plus the Huntsville Sports Commission and Downtown Huntsville Inc. invite alumni, family and friends to Charger Tipoff on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in downtown Huntsville. The event is complimentary and open to the public.
The basketball court will be set up at the Yarbrough Hotel parking lot at the corner of Holmes Avenue and Jefferson Street. There will be a preview of the UAH men’s and women’s basketball teams and introductions by men’s basketball coach John Shulman and women’s basketball coach Andrea Lemmond.
Saturday, Sept. 23, starts early with the Charger Classic Golf Tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Hampton Cove. Registration is at 7 a.m. with tee off at 8. The tournament is scramble format/best ball. Proceeds benefit alumni and student programming. Registration is required. Golf cart and lunch are provided.
The Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony happens Saturday evening on the UAH campus with reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6. The Department of Athletics will recognize seven alumni and Charger Champions for their extraordinary accomplishments and contributions as a Charger. Registration is required, and seating is limited.
Alumni Weekend 2023 wraps up with the Alumni Brunch on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Humphrey’s Bar & Grill, 103 Washington St. in downtown Huntsville. The Alumni Association invites all alumni to enjoy brunch, mimosas and live music and visit with friends old and new. The first drink for UAH alumni is offered courtesy of the Alumni Association. Registration is required.
