• UAH Department of English, Honors College celebrate "Solaris Week"

    The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Honors College will celebrate "Solaris Week," Sept. 7-13. The guest speaker for the week's festivities will be Dr. Istvan Csicsery-Ronay Jr., Eminent Scholar and Professor of English at DePauw University.

    The UAH Humanities Center, Department of English and Honors College are jointly sponsoring Csicsery-Ronay's visit to the university. "Solaris Week" features an Honors College Class Lecture, an Eminent Scholar (Public) Lecture, and a movie presentation. The public talk is entitled "The Alien and the Animal on Thursday, Sept. 10, 5 p.m., to 6:30 p.m., Shelby Center for Science and Technology (SST), and the movie "Solaris," will be shown in the Charger Union Theater at 6 p.m., on Sept 12. The public talk and movie viewing is free and open to the public.

The Bismarck, N.D., native is both an associate professor of political science at UAH and the Commanding Officer of a U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence unit supporting U.S. Strategic Command. But while these two paths may seem disparate, taken together they reflect a lifelong interest in and commitment to public service.

    Emily Hughes wouldn't describe herself as a cat person, but after spending the summer as an intern at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS), she's beginning to see the appeal. "I've gained a lot of experience with cats and I have a new appreciation for them," says the senior biology major at UAH. "And it's kind of hard not to get attached to kittens!"

  • How to Register for SPRING 2024 Classes

    Use these steps to enroll in ANY classes at UAH, including all music classes, ensembles, and applied lessons.

    1. Log onto your myUAH account at my.uah.edu. You'll need your UAH ID (first part of UAH email before the "@" symbol) and your UAH password (same as for UAH email). If you have trouble with either of these, or logging on, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
    2. Once logged on, scroll down and click on "Add or Drop Classes"
    3. Select "SPRING 2024."
    4. You should come to a screen with little boxes across it. This is where you'll input your CRN codes to register. (Go HERE for class days, times, and CRN codes which you'll need to register.
    5. Once you've entered all your classes, click on "Submit Changes."

    Joy Robinson is an avid gamer and researcher, who loves messing around with technology and nerdy things. The "newly minted" Assistant Professor in Technical Writing and New Media begins her tenure at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) this month in the Department of English.

    Six students from UAH attended this year's National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) held May 28-30 at the University of Maryland in College Park: undergraduates Brea Roper (Communication Arts), Ashley Keister (Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Norsha White (Spanish); graduate students Camille Woods (Atmospheric Science) and Cassie Michael (History); and alumna Ashley Monroe (Electrical and Computer Engineering). They were joined by Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University student Monique Jefferson.
