Our Mission is to bring balance to our community by highlighting the importance of the humanities. The Center offers to students, faculty and the general population opportunities to experience and witness growth in the humanities, those fields that teach us the difference between knowledge and wisdom. The humanities include literature, history, philosophy, languages and theoretical and historical fields within the social and behavioral sciences and fine arts.

It is the goal of the Humanities Center to propel the University toward recognition as an academic leader in the humanities. In doing this we will provide a cultural environment that encourages learning through research and public discussion.

For more information about the humanities in Alabama visit the website of the Alabama Humanities Foundation.

For more information about how the federal government sponsors the humanities visit the website of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The UAH Humanities Center is a member of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes collaborating with other organizations for the advancement of the humanities.
