The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Department of English and the Huntsville Literary Association (HLA) presents the 2016 American Shakespeare Center "Dangerous Dreams Tour."

All pre-show lectures are free and begin nightly at 6 p.m. Performances start at 7 p.m. and admission for students is $15, HLA members $20, seniors (65 and up) $20, and general public $25. Seating will be limited to 350 per night. Tickets are available at the Arts Council and the UAH Department of English in Morton Hall room 222, telephone 256.824.6320, or visit: www.hlahsv.org.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 2 - "Julius Caesar," In this profoundly moving, breathtaking, and deeply human play, Shakespeare shows us a world on fire; a world turned upside down; a world where some of history's most famous men commit horrific crimes in the name of patriotism and honor. Julius Caesar is a dazzling thrill ride of betrayal, violence, and perhaps most surprisingly - love.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 3 - "The Life of King Henry the Fifth," The story of England's hero-king and the greatest upset in European military history is Shakespeare's finale to his great history plays. More than that, Henry V - at once touching, heroic, savage, and comic - explores the nature of greatness and its connection to theatre; and, perhaps more than any other of Shakespeare's works, it makes the audience part of the story.
  • Thursday, Feb. 4 - "The Importance of Being Earnest," Oscar Wilde's brilliant and wicked comic masterpiece defines wit and style. This "trivial comedy for serious people" is at once blissfully silly and outrageously shrewd. 120 years after its first performance, The Importance of Being Earnest continues to delight audiences with its playful language, charming characters, and biting look at contemporary society.

This program has been made possible in part by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, a 2016 Arts and Cultural Grant funded by the City of Huntsville, UAH College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, UAH Humanities Center, and COLSA Corporation.
