Test Optional Policy for Admission to UAH

UAH will not require new freshman students to submit an ACT or SAT score when applying for admission for the Spring 2024, Summer 2024, or Fall 2024 terms. On the admissions application, students will have the option to select if they wish to have test scores considered for admission and scholarship purposes. Students who feel their ACT or SAT test scores accurately reflect their quality of work in high school are encouraged to submit test scores and not apply test-optional.

For students who wish to apply test-optional

If you indicate that you DO NOT wish to have your test scores included in the review of your admissions application, you may still submit your scores to increase your freshman scholarship offer after the submission of your admissions application.

For students requesting to change their test-optional status, any ACT/SAT test scores received after the May 1, 2024 scholarship upgrade deadline will not be considered for an award upgrade.

For students who DO NOT wish to apply test-optional

If you indicate that you want your test scores included in the review of your admissions application, your application will remain incomplete until official test scores are received from ACT/SAT.

For admission and scholarship consideration, UAH will use your highest composite score from one test sitting. UAH does not accept superscores.

FAQ

Who is eligible for test-optional admission?

New first-time freshmen may choose to apply test-optional.

How do I select my option?

You may choose your option on the admissions application. Your choice to include or exclude your ACT/SAT scores from review will affect both admission and scholarship consideration.

How will I be evaluated for admission and scholarships?

High school GPA, strength of high school curriculum, and ACT/SAT scores (if you choose to have them included for review) are the primary criteria used for admission and scholarship consideration.

Is a test score required for scholarship consideration?

No. However, students who feel their ACT or SAT test scores accurately reflect their quality of work in high school are encouraged to submit test scores and not apply test-optional.

What if I already sent UAH my ACT or SAT score(s) prior to submitting the admissions application and wish to apply without them?

Although your test scores will remain on file, they will not be used or reviewed for the purpose of admission consideration. However, test scores could still be used for academic course placement.

Can I switch options?
