Nominate a UAH staff member who positively impacted your educational and professional careers! Don’t miss your chance to nominate a Staff Member Who Made a Difference! In partnership with The University of Alabama in Huntsville Alumni Association, the Office of Academic Affairs is accepting nominations for the inaugural 2026 Staff Members Who Made a Difference Award. Great staff members are exceptional people! They open doors, remove obstacles, champion our success, support us through challenges, and inspire us to be resilient, to persist, and to thrive! This is an opportunity to recognize and thank them. Both currently enrolled students and UAH alumni may submit nominations. To be eligible, nominees must: Have been employed by UAH for at least three (3) years Demonstrate genuine care and concern for student success and well-being Exhibit strong knowledge of university policies, procedures, and resources relevant to supporting students Go beyond standard job responsibilities to advocate for students and remove barriers to their success Have not been a recipient of this award within ten (10) years. To nominate someone, you will be asked to respond to a small number of prompt questions intended to help understand the nominee’s contributions. What is your relationship to the nominee? Describe a specific situation where this staff member went above and beyond to help you navigate a challenge, access resources, or overcome an obstacle. What was at stake, and what was the outcome? How has this individual's support or advocacy directly contributed to your academic success, persistence, career preparation, or personal growth during your time at the university? What specific qualities, knowledge, or approaches make this staff member exceptionally effective in supporting students? Nominations must be submitted no later than February 27, 2026. Up to four (4) staff members will be recognized for outstanding teaching and mentoring with a plaque and cash award. Recipients will be selected by a committee consisting of members appointed by the UAH Alumni Association's Board of Directors and representatives of the Office of Academic Affairs.
