The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) has been designated as a Military Friendly® School at the gold level for 2021-2022 in recognition of its efforts to transition military veterans to school and then into private sector careers.
UAH, a part of the University of Alabama System, is one of 747 schools that earned the designation out of over 1,200 candidates. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey.
"We are honored to again be recognized for the services and support our Military and Veterans Programs Office provides to our student veterans and service members and their families," says Brittany Howard, senior coordinator of veterans services.
"From priority registration and benefits processing to work study opportunities, we take a full-service approach," she says. "Our student veterans and their families are valued members of our campus community and we take pride in helping them pursue their academic and professional goals."
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey measuring the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students, and specifically for student veterans.
The Military Friendly® School list is compiled annually by VIQTORY, a private recruitment marketing agency and publisher that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities. Its brands are not a part of nor endorsed by the U.S. Dept of Defense or any federal government entity.
