Required Courses UAH Students PHL 102 – Intro to Ethics Major ethical positions in both classical and modern thought. The course may include a consideration of case studies drawn from practical contexts in engineering, medicine and other areas. AES 110 - Human Geography (3 credit hours) This course offers the student a comprehensive understanding of the Gulf region, delving into its geographical, historical, and socioeconomic dimensions. Students will embark on a journey to understand the Gulf's intricate ecosystem and its dynamic relationship with human societies. SOC 301 - Research Methods* (3 credit hours) This course teaches student to read, interpret, and explain scientific research in social science. Course covers key elements and process of sociological research methods, both qualitative and quantitative. *Other research classes may be substituted, including: AES 499, BYS 292, ECN 481, KIN 452, NUR 307, or PY 303. Calhoun Community College Students Humanities 101: Introduction to Humanities (at Calhoun) This course offers the student an introduction to the humanities using selections from art, music, literature, history, and philosophy, which relates to a unifying theme of ecology and sustainability. GSP 400 - Gulf Impact Project (3 credit hours) Students will be paired with a faculty member as a supervisor and a community member to design and implement their impact project in a community. Community Service Students are required to complete 30 hours of community service. Students will work in their specific disciplines and with Wild Alabama and other community organizations.
