Topics will range from specific queer authors (including some with ties to Alabama) to a broader glance at the way certain themes have helped to inform horror and weird lit. Doug will dive into the way some writers have expressed their own sexuality and gender identity through characters and plots, how non-queer writers have treated queer themes and characters, and how the horror genre has also exploited queer characters (from trans villains to sexy lesbian vampires) throughout the years. Readings of stories, clips of movies, and other material will be shared.
