Introduction

Welcome to our Campus Climate Survey FAQ! Collecting information is key to our continued growth on campus as well as community-building efforts. Campus Climate includes the experience of individuals and groups on a campus — and the quality and extent of the interaction between those various groups and individuals.

Why are we conducting this survey?

A healthy campus climate is not the same as a positive climate or a climate that is always comfortable. Our goal is to collect important data in order to better understand and plan for the growth of our campus. Understanding perspectives, viewpoints, and varying experiences are key to getting a better pulse on what matters most to the community in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, as the University goes through the process of drafting its newest strategic plan, the insights gained from the survey become invaluable in determining the needs of the campus community.

How will I take this survey?

You will receive an email from our partner Campus Climate Survey, LLC/Viewfinder®. The email received from "Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys" will contain a link to the survey that is unique to you. Therefore, we ask that you do not forward your survey invitation to anyone else.

If the email is not retrievable, please email the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at diversity@uah.edu to let us know your survey invitation has been deleted.

How do the survey results affect me?

Impact on Students

Research has shown that the overall environment at a college campus can impact academic performance and overall learning outcomes. A healthy environment for students is key to thriving and succeeding.

Impact on Faculty and Staff

Students are not the only group that benefits from a healthy environment. Studies have shown that a workplace environment that is healthy and positive plays a huge role in personal and professional development. Any form of discrimination or prejudice experienced in the workplace can be attributed to negative feelings, decreased health, and an overall impact on well-being. Your honest (and extremely confidential) responses will greatly impact your work environment for the better.
