GenCyber Cybersecurity Summer Camps

UAH hosts GenCyber cybersecurity summer camps for high school students and teachers. We also provide lead support for camps hosted at other institutions. These camps are jointly funded by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. Questions about camp or other K12 cybersecurity events should be directed to k12cyber@uah.edu

GenCyber Southeastern Network for Cybersecurity Education (SENCE) Coalition

The SENCE Coalition provides teacher and student camps and outreach opportunities across the Southeastern United States. Camps were held in the summer of 2025.

Student Camps

GenCyber Middle School Camp

June 9-13, 2025

Hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville

Cybersecurity camp for middle school students. Campers engaged in a five-day non-residential camp to learn cybersecurity and STEM skills through hands-on experiences and group activities. Students must have been entering 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2025 to be eligible. No cybersecurity experience or knowledge was required. GenCyber is funded by government grants and is free to all students.


GenCyber Camp at Gallaudet University

June 22-29, 2025

Hosted by Gallaudet University

The Gallaudet University GenCyber camp was open to all high school students. The program implemented tools, communication strategies, and opportunities, that made it beneficial to all learners, including Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.


GenCyber Camp for Students at Auburn University at Montgomery

July 14-18, 2025

Hosted by Auburn University at Montgomery

Camp was held July 14-18 at the AIDB North Campus in Decatur, Alabama. To be eligible, campers must have been a high school student (at least entering 9th grade in fall 2025). Seniors graduating in 2025 were considered. Up to 15 campers attended and were taught cybersecurity concepts in a fun, interactive, and accessible environment. No cybersecurity experience was required. 

This camp was a collaboration between Auburn University Montgomery, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.


Teacher Camps

GenCyber Camp for Teachers at Motlow State Community College

July 7-11, 2025

Hosted at Motlow State Community College, Smyrna Campus, TN

A cybersecurity summer workshop for middle and high school teachers. GenCyber helped create cyber-savvy educators through hands-on lab exercises, demos, and group-based curriculum integration sessions. No cybersecurity experience was required.

  • Stipend for full attendance
  • Lunch and snacks provided

GenCyber Camp for Teachers at North Carolina Central University

July 28-August 1, 2025

Hosted by North Carolina Central University

The teacher camp at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) focused on equipping teachers with the cybersecurity skills, educational tools, and best practices necessary for teaching all students, including students with visual impairments.

College of Engineering Camps

The UAH College of Engineering holds various cybersecurity and engineering camps each summer for middle and high school students.

UAH partnered with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and Cyber Huntsville to launch the inaugural U.S. Cyber Camp for Alabama high school students in July 2017. The CCRE provided curriculum development and instruction for the U.S. Cyber Camp endeavor for two years.
