Biography

Stephen Tyler Davis is a dynamic leader in the American theatre landscape, serving as the Artistic Director of Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy (FPCTA) in Huntsville, Alabama. With a career spanning over two decades, Davis is known for his joyful, inclusive, and community-centered approach to storytelling and arts education. At FPCTA, he leads a robust season of mainstage productions, educational programming, and original new works, including the development of family musicals like Stargazing With Helen Keller, Rusty the Robot, and Huckleberry Haywood. Under his artistic leadership, FPCTA has expanded its reach through new partnerships, touring initiatives, and a transformative facility move to its new home on the Boulevard.

Davis holds a BA in Theatre from The University of Alabama, where he graduated with honors and served as President of the Gamma Gamma Cast of Alpha Psi Omega. He earned his MFA in Theatre from Sarah Lawrence College, where he also served as President of the Graduate Student Senate. His original plays and musicals have been produced across the country, including at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the New York International Fringe Festival, and regional and educational theaters nationwide.

A multi-hyphenate artist—director, writer, performer, educator, and producer, Davis has toured nationally with TheatreWorks USA, co-founded CitySalt Theatricals NYC, and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. His passion for uplifting young voices and fostering new works continues to shape the future of American theatre.

In addition to his role at FPCTA, Davis is a faculty member in Communications and Media at Alabama A&M University, where he teaches courses in screenwriting, storytelling, and performance. He also guest lectures at universities and community colleges throughout the Southeast.

Davis is an ordained minister, an ASCAP songwriter, and a recent honoree of Huntsville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, recognized for his artistic contributions and civic leadership. Whether in the classroom, the rehearsal room, or onstage, Stephen Tyler Davis remains committed to building community through the transformative power of theatre.
