The Department of Chemistry is home to two centers and a number of instrumentation facilities available for undergraduate and graduate researchers. These include 500 and 800 MHz NMR spectrometers in the Alabama High Field NMR Laboratory, along with small molecule and protein X-ray diffractometers in the Laboratory for Structural Biology. Additional research instrumentation is available in the various Principal Investigator's laboratories, including an Olis circular dichroism spectrophotometer, a Fluoromax-3 spectrofluorimeter with titrator, MicroCal VP-ITC and VP-DSC calorimeters for biological samples, an LC-mass spectrometer, and atomic force microscopes.
