After more than seven years of service, UAH Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Christine Curtis will retire effective August 1.

Dr. Curtis has graciously agreed to ensure a smooth transition, which will begin July 12 with two interim appointments. Dr. Robert Lindquist will serve as Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. John Christy will be Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development until a national search is conducted and a new Provost is named.

After more than seven years of service, UAH Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Christine Curtis will retire effective August 1.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Curtis for her dedicated service to our University. Accomplishments and major initiatives developed under her leadership include:

  • Led the University in the 2016 10-Year Reaffirmation of SACSCOC Accreditation
  • Established the College of Education and changed Professional and Continuing Studies from a division to the College of Professional Studies with academic programs focusing on returning adults
  • Led efforts to improve the four-year and six-year graduation rates
  • Established and implemented the Academic Success Advocacy Program Office, the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Online Learning Office within Enhanced Teaching and Learning
  • Collaborated with faculty, chairs, associate deans and deans to establish more than 20 new academic degree programs
  • Collaborated with the College of Education to establish and expand the Early Learning Center/Rise School
  • Expanded and upgraded classroom technology throughout campus
  • Initiated the Strategic Planning process
  • Established the IT Disaster Recovery site in Marietta, Georgia

We appreciate the willingness of Dr. Lindquist and Dr. Christy to take on new responsibilities during the interim and thank Dr. Curtis for her dedication and service to UAH as we wish her much continued success.
