David Chan Areas of expertise: Engineering, product development Biography David serves as Honorary Faculty Fellow in the UAH Honors College. David originally moved to Huntsville in 1970. After graduating from Huntsville High School in 1978, he went to MIT where he received his BS, MS and EE (PhD without thesis) degrees in Electrical Engineering. During his graduate years at MIT, David was an instructor within the electrical engineering department as well as MIT’s community adult education program. Following graduation, David enjoyed a successful career in Silicon Valley focused in the semiconductor equipment and medical capital equipment industries. David holds 15 US patents for inventions related to semiconductor manufacturing, gamma ray camera technology, solar power control and microprocessor design. His final position was VP of Engineering of Bentek, Inc. where he led development of the solar energy product line. David states he is delighted to be back in Northern Alabama after an absence of 40 years and to see the outstanding opportunities that are available for innovation and entrepreneurship in the community.
