First Time Freshmen

Students should first apply for admission to UAH. See Admissions & Aid for complete information.

The deadline to be eligible for Honors Priority Orientation and early Freshmen registration is April 1, 2018. Applications submitted after April 1 may be considered but will not be eligible for the Honors Priority Orientation.  Applications for Fall 2018 will not be accepted after June 30, 2018.

  • Admission to Honors requires application and is not automatic.
  • Admission is based upon a holistic review of candidates that considers high school transcripts, test scores, activities, leadership, and application essays. Minimum requirements are a 28 ACT and a 3.5 GPA. In special cases, because of the holistic review, students who fall below the minimum standards may be accepted.
  • Last year, the middle 50% of students admitted to the UAH Honors College had an ACT score between 30 and 34 (SAT 1400 - 1550). Average ACT was 31.6 (SAT 1440).
  • The average high school GPA of current Honors Students is 4.2.
  • There is no application fee.
  • To be eligible for Honors Priority Orientation and early freshman registration, applications must be received by our priority deadline. Please check the website for this year’s deadline.

Current UAH Students or Students Transferring to UAH

Any current UAH student or transfer student with at least a 3.25 GPA is invited to join the Honors College. If you don't meet that requirement, you may still apply by showing other qualifications. You are encouraged to apply using the Current UAH / Transfer student Honors College application.

Transfer students who have earned a 3.25 grade point average at an accredited college or university are also invited to join the Honors College. If you don't meet that guideline, you may still apply and we will make an individual assessment. In most cases, you can transfer Honors credit earned at another institution to be used as Honors credits at UAH.

Requirements for the full Honors Diploma are the same for transfer students and for enrolled students entering the college for the first time. The Honors Office will work with you to develop a plan to complete 24 Honors credit hours. If it's not possible to complete the full Honors Diploma, you may be interested in pursuing the Certificate for Completion of the Upper-Level Requirements (see College Requirements). Contact the Honors Office for further information.
