Roberts with an exhibit in her honor. Dr. Roberts, who taught history when the University of Alabama Extension Center began operation in January 1950, was the university’s first full-time faculty member. She established the History Department and later served as chairperson. Roberts also served as director and founder of the University’s Academic Advisement and Information Center. She was the first female PhD graduate of the University of Alabama History Department. On May 14, 1988, she was honored with the dedication of Roberts Hall here at UAH. Roberts devoted 29 years of dedicated service to UAHuntsville, and 18 years to the Alabama Public School System. View the exhibit on the ground floor of SSB between 4/18 and 4/29 2022. On May 6 at 11 am, a historic marker will be dedicated in her Honor at 603 Randolph Street in Huntsville. The public is invited.
