Join Dr. Shennette Garrett-Scott, Associate Professor of History and African-American Studies at the University of Mississippi, as she discusses the relationship between black women and American finance capitalism from the Reconstruction era to the present. Dr. Garrett-Scott discusses how African-American women carved out a niche in the American financial world, expanding upon the research in her critically acclaimed book Banking on Freedom: Black Women in U.S. Finance Before the New Deal.
