OLLI at UAH Course - England’s Prime: Edward Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Williams

Monday, September 12, 2022- October 17, 2022 Multiday event - 35 days

3:15 PM 4:45 PM

Wilson Hall

Offered through Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UAH

This course offers an in-depth look at the two most prominent British composers of the first half of the 20th century: Edward Elgar, the musical voice of Empire, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, who led the folk-music movement and wrote some of that time’s most exquisite music. Elgar, known largely for his graduation march, “Pomp and Circumstance #1,” had many sides other than Edwardian pomp and stuffiness, while Vaughan Williams actually wrote for the movies as well as his more traditional symphonic output.

Monday (6 sessions) | Cost: $35 | Instructor: Dr D Hornstein | In-Person, UAH Campus
